Spring Break Recap

Spring break passed quickly and barely felt like it happened. I spent the week on a lake in Seneca, South Carolina, with 11 of my friends from my football team. We left the previous Saturday and returned late the following Saturday, giving us a full week away from campus. Despite the time off, the trip seemed to fly by. During the week, we filled our days with activities such as kayaking, hiking, tubing and playing games.

One of the highlights of the trip was attending a baseball game at Clemson University. On Thursday night, the No. 15-ranked Clemson Tigers baseball hosted the No.6-ranked Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets baseball to open a three-game series. We attended the first game, but the matchup quickly turned one-sided. Georgia Tech jumped out to an early lead with two home runs in the first two innings and built a 9-0 advantage by the sixth inning. The Yellow Jackets added another run and ended the game early with a run-rule victory in the seventh inning. Even though the result was not what the home crowd hoped for, we still enjoyed the experience and spent much of the game talking with the parents of several Georgia Tech players who were seated nearby.

Another memorable day came Tuesday when we met up with a group of soccer players who were staying at a nearby lake for their own spring break trip. After realizing they were only about 30 minutes away, we drove over to spend the day with them. Both groups had about a dozen people, which made it easy to relax, play games and enjoy the lake together. Most of the afternoon was spent near the dock swimming and catching up. It was a fun way for people from our hometown of Ada to connect while hundreds of miles away in South Carolina.

The week moved quickly, but the memories made it worthwhile. Trips like this remind me how valuable time with friends can be, especially during a busy semester filled with football, school and work. Now it is time to return to campus in Ada and finish the semester strong.

  1. Hi Keegan! I also feel like spring break went by in a blink of an eye. It's so sad! I said going into break it was going to fly by, and it sure did. I've always wanted to visit South Carolina, so maybe this is a spot to check out. Overall, your break sounded super fun and being able to enjoy it with so many of your teammates is amazing!
