Weekend Rush
This past weekend was one of the busiest and most memorable weekends I have had in a while. Between golf, football, recruiting and seeing old friends, there was always something going on. It was the kind of weekend that reminded me how quickly life can move when every day is packed with new experiences.
The weekend began Friday night with a round of golf at Colonial for the first time this year. The weather was finally warm enough to get back on the course close to Ada, which made it even better. A group of my friends and I spent the evening playing a scramble against each other. It felt good to get back to the course and into something I always enjoy. More than anything, it was a great way to relax before a busy weekend.
Saturday morning brought a much different atmosphere with our first padded practice of the spring. After several practices in only helmets, adding shoulder pads made it feel like real football again. The energy was noticeably higher, and the tempo of practice picked up right away. There is something different about hearing the pads pop and being able to play the game at a more physical level.
After practice, the day shifted into recruiting mode. We hosted 67 recruits on campus, and I had the opportunity to help with tours after practice. It was a cool experience because I remember being in their position not too long ago, trying to picture what college life and football would be like. Being able to show them around campus, answer questions and talk with them during meals gave me a chance to share what I have learned so far. I enjoyed helping younger players feel comfortable and giving them an honest look at what our program is about.
The weekend did not slow down Saturday night. I made the trip to visit some of my high school friends who now attend the University of Toledo. It was great catching up and spending time together since we do not get to see each other often. Later that night, we went to a casino for the first time. None of us really knew what to expect, but we had a blast trying different games and enjoying the experience together.
Looking back, the weekend was a mix of competition, friendship and new experiences. From the golf course to the practice field to reconnecting with old friends, it was a great reminder to enjoy every opportunity that comes your way.
Hey Keegan! This definitely sounds like a busy weekend, full of some great times! 67 recruits is a ton, the most I have seen for track at one time is 12 or so. It is exciting that the team is getting back into the full swing of things, super excited to watch this coming season.
ReplyDeleteKeegan! Looks like you had a great weekend, hopefully the weather cooperates and stays pretty warm the rest of this semester.
